DO WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD

We had kind of a rough weekend. We worked during most of it, and we hardly got to run at all, so we were feeling pretty close to cranky at the begining of the day on Monday.

But then a tweet–a tiny little 140-character shoutout–came across our desks, and it changed our moods for the rest of the day. Heck, it’s Wednesday, and we’re still feeling good about it.

What was it? It was a comment from someone who’s just tried a BRD knee brace. Someone who hasn’t been able to run without some sort of knee pain for months now. And what he said was, “First pain-free run in two months. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

We’re not afraid to call a spade a spade. Sitting there at our desks, mid-morning on a Monday, we got a little misty-eyed. And then, we got back to whatever it was we needed to do, feeling energized and happy and remembering why we got into this business in the first place. We got into it because we’re in the business of keeping people active. We’re all athletes ourselves, and we know what it’s like to feel sidelined. Likewise, we know what it’s like to have to toil through recovery. It’s already a struggle to push yourself to do the PT and the stretches and the endless Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation cycle without getting your normal sweat on. Doing it with an uncomfortable, sweaty, itchy object glued onto your body just makes it worse.

So when we went looking for a better solution, we did it with ourselves, and our friends and family, in mind. We did it with the mindset that we’re going to get old one day, and that we want to stay out there as long as possible. We literally traveled the world, looking for the best possible technique, something that is a true improvement on what’s already out there, instead of a tweak on a pre-existing design. We think we’ve found it. But sometimes, it takes a note like the one we got on Monday to really bring it home. We just wanted to let you know.

Every day we hear about our sponsored triathlon team staying healthy and inspiring people through community to get active. On our Twitter feed we like best the posts that come through telling us what folks are doing for their workouts. We love the bi-weekly runchats and trichats, where newbies learn from vets and vets learn from newbies. We’re honored to partner with people like ATW5K, which is going to allow people all over the world to draw strength and inspiration from an American running legend. We’ve seldom been happier than when we see people pushing their personal limits and learning things about themselves.

We hope you keep it up. And we hope we can help you to get wherever it is you want to go.

Thanks for reading, and thanks for reminding us why we’re here.
